Sarah’s November Favorites:

A collection of products, tools, activities, books, recipes, resources, and any other discovery I'm enjoying or think is worth sharing. Tried and tested, I don’t recommend what I don’t use myself. Not all health related either some will be just for fun!

Moisturizing, Nourishing Skin Care that isn’t greasy or packed full of additives or harmful ingredients

I have dealt with patches of dry skin on my body and extremely chapped lips for as long as I can remember. This coupled with a skin picking disorder makes for some very raw skin. I have tried every product available for my entire life. You name it I’ve tried it, even some things I shouldn’t have tried like Bacitracin but I have been desperate for a solution for so long but and had pretty much given up. I would experience this year round but the winters would be brutal, that was until I learned about Lanolin products. For a large majority of my life I was against using any animal derived products for skin care but I learned how Lanolin in harvested and found out it doesn’t cause harm to the sheep. The routine of shearing sheep automatically provides this incredible waxy oil that provides a nourishing, moisturizing effect like nothing I have experienced. It really sinks into your skin well and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. I am not sponsored by this company, I stumbled across their products on accident and cannot go without them. The website is linked above, all of their products are amazing!

Before: You can see the uneven tone because my skin was literally raw in some areas , pulling skin due to dryness and even little abrasions due to how dry my skin was.

After: Completely healed my skin and my lips looked normal again, more even skin tone with or without lip product, it wasn’t just a product I was applying on top of dry skin it was nourishing and remoisturizing the skin.

Homemade Immuni Tea

This is a go to all throughout the year but especially during “flu season” and you usually can make it with items you have in your kitchen right now!

Recipe:

12-16 oz glass mug

Juice from 1/2 Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit or Orange or all of them together ( Lemon and Grapefruit are my favorites)

Grated or minced fresh ginger

1/8 tsp Ginger Powder

1/8 tsp Ceylon Cinnamon

1 tsp Manuka Honey

Pinch of Celtic Sea Salt

1/2 tsp minced garlic

1/2 tsp minced onion

This concoction leans toward an acquired taste but you can adjust or lessen ingredients as needed. You will be surprised how much cinnamon can cover haha! You can go easy on the garlic and onion the first few times you try it and if it’s too much you can omit them entirely, it will still be a great drink to support the lungs and immune health.

Eases digestive issues, easy to take, easy on your stomach, great for those times when you are having a heavier meal.

With the Holiday season comes a lot of seasonal foods, maybe some heavier foods, and perhaps a little more eating that you usually do and that’s wonderful! You should make the most of that time and enjoy all of the things but if you tend to notice some digestive issues with heavier foods or foods you don’t eat as often these digestive enzymes can really save the day. Ideally you would take them before or during the meal but they will still work afterwards too. These have been a lifesaver for me for years so I can enjoy heavier foods and time in community and not be miserable. Order via the website link above, these are great to have on hand for holidays, meals out or trips.

Regulate your Circadian rhythm and block that blue light! Ease eye strain and sleep better.

One of those items I can’t really live without as someone who owns a small business I am on a computer or phone all of the time and definitely notice when I haven’t been wearing my blue blockers. It’s a really low barrier change you can make if you spend time watching TV before bed. Blue blockers help by limiting the amount of blue light received by your eyes so you can feel more relaxed and at ease. Blue light keeps us alert and may also compromise appropriate hormone release so wearing blue blockers is a really easy way to combat that.

I have been using Manuka Honey for years to support my health, in tea, in recipes and for skin conditions. Wedderspoon is my favorite high quality brand and you can really taste the difference.

Wedderspoon offers a wide variety of products with different MGO levels ( see explanation below) but the one I have shared above is my favorite for consistency and taste. I use this in everything from tea to recipes to wound care, dry skin etc. I have taken a tsp everyday for the past 7 years and I rarely get sick, like maybe once every few years * Not medical advice

From the Wedderspoon website*

MGO directly measures the concentration of methylglyoxal (in mg/kg)—the natural organic compound responsible for Mānuka honey's signature health, immune, and antimicrobial properties. Our Mānuka Honey is always raw, unpasteurized, Non-GMO Project Verified, sourced and packed in New Zealand, free from antibiotics, glyphosate, and pesticides.
